Surveillance activities of the Nancy Laboratory for Rabies and Wildlife
The laboratory's surveillance activities mainly concern:
- epidemiological surveillance of animal rabies in France and Europe, mainly outbreak and programmed surveillance of infection of bats with lyssaviruses, but also with other bat-specific viruses in the context of exploratory surveys;
- epidemiological surveillance of Echinococcus multilocularis in France, jointly with the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB);
- epidemiological surveillance of bovine tuberculosis in French wildlife, within the framework of the dedicated national scheme Sylvatub in collaboration with its various partners, including the National Reference Laboratory for animal tuberculosis, whose mandate is held by the Laboratory for Animal Health;
- improving wildlife health surveillance through its involvement in the Epidemiological surveillance platform for animal health (ESA), and in particular through coordination of this platform's wildlife monitoring group.
